10 Most dangerous Roads

All the roads have been given a rigorously monitored fear factor to rank them. The list includes cliff top single track roads, some laden with bandits and others with deadly drops. Memories this list, and avoid, or proceed, depending on your disposition. We've scoured the web to find the most frightening, dangerous, and deadly roads

10. Atlantic Road Averoey Norway

The road is so steep and curvy that from some angles it seems to simply end. On a stormy day, gusts of wind and huge waves crash over the barricade and onto unsuspecting cars winding over the narrow bridge.

9. Taroko Gorge Road, Taiwan

The Taroko Gorge Road is one of the most dangerous in Taiwan. Heavy typhoons and seismic activity only add to the danger that contributes to 96,611 road deaths in Taiwan every year. Not as ‘Magnificient and Splendid’ as the translated name suggests.

8. Stelvio Pass Italy

Stelvio Pass snakes 9,000 feet uphill with 48 sharp turns into the Italian Alps. Don't let the stunning Alpine views distract you though, as there is only a low concrete barrier between you and the steep mountain drop.

7. Window Maker United Kingdom

The A537 (nicknamed "the widow-maker") was named Britain's most dangerous road in 2010. Although surrounded by stunning scenery in England's Peak District, the road's sharp bends make it as deadly as it is beautiful.

6. Trollstigen, Norway
Norway’s Trollstigen Road comprises many hairpin bends and sheer drops that are particularly treacherous in icy conditions. Mad inclines, narrow passes contribute to the nation’s 208 annual road deaths. Accurately named as “Trollstigen”, which means “troll’s ladder” or “troll’s footpath”, this mountain road connects Andalsnes in Rauma to Valldal in Norrdal. This road took eight years to complete but is still quite narrow to drive safely. Trollstigen has 11 hairpin bends and 9% incline, which explains why vehicles over 39 feet in length are prohibited here

5. Sichuan-Tibet Highway, China

With a record of over 7,500 fatalities per 100,000 drivers, this road between Chengdu and Tibet is a risky drive. With avalanches and rock slides paying visit to this high elevation road often, it is better to use utmost caution while driving on this road.

4. Karakoram Highway in Pakistan

This is the world's highest paved road  measuring 4800 meters. This highway witnesses many floods, landslides and avalanches, and very dangerous for the travelers. This 800 miles highway connects Pakistan to china though khunjerab pass and some tallest mountains of the world like Nanga Parbat

3. The Guoliang Tunnel in China

Carved through a mountain in China, the Guoliang road is one of the most dangerous roads in the world. The road was hollowed out of the mountain’s side by villagers to connect the town of Guoliang with other locations, which otherwise was sitting aloof. As the road is not planned and paved by professionals, it is quite risky to drive here.

2. The Zoji Pass in India

The Zoji Pass snakes over the Himalayan mountains at over 11,000 feet above sea level, and is nothing more than a crumbling, single-lane dirt trail. Landslides are a common occurrence on the road.

1. Bolivia Death road

Bolivia's "Death Road" doesn't get its name from nowhere. The single-lane dirt road clings to rock face the whole way down, threatening to cast riders off the edge if they're distracted for just a moment. And the threat is real. Each year, some 300 drivers and cyclists fly off the route and perish on the 11,000-foot descent from the Andes to the rain forest.
